Hola amigos!

My name is Yurii Korotun, I am a professional skateboarding athlete and ambassador. I'm also a certified instructor with bachelor degree in pedagogy. The impact that skateboarding has on my life is beyond profound. It drives and motivates me to be a better athlete, friend and human being.

I want to share my passion and dedication in the most engaging way possible, to manifest my love and gratitude to skateboarding, people, and the world.

Why skateboarding?

In year 2020 skateboarding has achieved a major recognition and grown to be an Olympic discipline. But it's so much more than just a sport, it is a whole culture, which revolves around the idea of action, freedom and self expression.

Countless numbers of art were dedicated to skateboarding, films, videos, magazines, competitions, skate parks, brands and so much more. It's without a doubt a global phenomena and main driver for millions of young people around the world.

Experience

2007 - 2014

I started to put a massive emphasis on skateboarding and got first results pretty fast. I won my first domestic competitions, got my first boardshop sponsorship, found amazing friends inside the community, and laid solid foundations for further progress. While still being a kid.

2014 - 2018

Got more serious sponsors in Ukraine and consistent support. Filmed street parts. Traveled the whole country and competed in a vast number of domestic contests. Had a bunch of golden medals won, only a couple times received 3rd and 2nd during this timeframe. Unfortunately this is also a period when after the success of the revolution of dignity in Kyiv, russians invaded for the first time, I just turned 18 and my future seems uncertain.

2017 - 2021

This is the time when I discovered European skateboarding and started to participate a lot on the big international events and travel around the world to compete in skate contests and for skateboarding filming. I won my first best trick during Simple Session (one of the biggest international contests) and was extremely proud to be among the winners of this international tournament.

Graduated University as a teacher of English and Spanish languages with whole courses of pedagogics, psychology and a lot of months practical classes with kids from 1-11 grade.

Besides that, I also was managing a skate brand and the project which combined a skate shop and skate magazine. A lot of events were organized, 9 offline premieres of the team video, photo exhibitions, skate contests, “go skateboarding day”, etc.

2021 - Now

I left Ukraine just 2 weeks before the full scale invasion started. This time around it was aimed at the capital, where my home was. In this dreadful time, but I've tried to be productive. There was a lot going on: refugee skate school project shelter in Hannover, two humanitarian missions with skate supplies to Ukraine, three skate camps in Germany. I've set up freelance activities. Visiting and making good results and winning a couple best tricks in several European contests.

I kept filming, and shot 2 skate parts and did a couple projects with Adidas skateboarding. Joined ukrainian extreme sport federation, and thanks to World Skate and European Olympic Commitetee started to officially represent Ukraine in World Skate tour in Rome, Lausanne, Tokyo and Sharjah, each one of which is 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualification stage in street skateboarding discipline.

I Became fully focused on the work with kids, self growth and study. I found myself in all of the possible avenues of skateboarding so far and will only move forward
